For AMG, which emphasizes the ultimate performance, cast iron block is obviously unacceptable. The 2.0T inline four-cylinder engine uses an all-aluminum block to achieve the lightweight requirements of the entire vehicle, regardless of whether it is the transverse platform M139 or the longitudinal platform M139l. In terms of data, this engine reaches a ceiling figure of 300kW/500Nm on the AMG C 43, which is straight out of a 3.0T six-cylinder.

 

The AMG M139 series uses an inverted aluminum block with a cold hard casting process, a forged hot formed crankshaft and forged aluminum pistons to ensure strength while also achieving lightweight requirements.

On the technical level, in addition to the oversized twin-scroll exhaust turbocharger (roller bearing), the new M139 also incorporates advanced technologies such as cylinder mirror coating technology, manifold EFI + direct in-cylinder injection, DVVT + DVVL variable valve control, etc. As for the M139l model on the longitudinal platform, AMG has also experimented with an electric motor-driven turbocharger, powered by a 48V electrical platform, this electric turbo reaches a maximum speed of 175,000 rpm, which effectively reduces the lag problem of the "big turbo", and with the BSG motor (10kW ), ensuring that the M139l has excellent power response even at low rpm. The data shows that the AMG C 43 with 2.0T+8DCT+4MATIC can "break 100" in 4.7s.

As the latest head, many new technologies on the Toyota A25A 2.5L self-priming engine are applied on this 2.4T turbo engine, such as dual injection (manifold EFI + direct in-cylinder injection). At the same time, this engine also redesigned the cylinder head, the direct injection port was moved to the top of the cylinder for the first time, and the four valve clamping angle is also larger than the self-priming series, which is conducive to optimizing the intake roll flow and improving combustion efficiency. Nowadays, this mid-mounted direct injection is already an industry trend, and the way to put the direct injection port on the side is not so mainstream, especially for the dual-injection engine.
