Why Do Piston Rings Have Problems?

(1) The piston ring is divided into two types: gas ring and oil ring, and the broken one is mostly the first gas ring. First, although the gas ring is chrome-plated, it is still more worn than other rings. Because its working environment is worse than other environments, this is one of the reasons why the first gas ring is easily broken.

(2) The opening clearance, side clearance or back clearance of the piston ring is too small. When the ring is thermally expanded, it is easy to break due to the hairpin.

(3) If the oil supply time is too early, the diesel engine will be knocked, the engine temperature will increase, and the carbon deposit will increase, which will cause the piston ring to wear and break prematurely.

(4) When the connecting rod is bent or twisted, the copper sleeve of the small end of the connecting rod is not assembled correctly or the milling is offset, the piston connecting rod group may wear unevenly or even break the piston ring due to uneven force during the movement.

(5) The temperature of the machine is too high, the piston ring is stuck or sticks to the cylinder, and the piston ring is easily broken during operation.

(6) Piston rings are generally made of gray cast iron and alloy casting, and casting defects can also easily lead to piston ring breakage.
